A unique musical treat on the Belgrade theatre stage

The Yugoslav Drama Theatre (Jugoslovensko dramsko pozorište) in Belgrade has not had a standing ovation and a season opening like this in a while. Magnifico and Aleksander Pešut – Schatz! provided a musical treat, setting the tone to the play Edip (King Oedipus).

Magnifico, who spent the summer on his Tour de l’amour with 20 concert dates, started the fall in the theatre. Last Saturday, the Yugoslav Drama Theatre premiered the play Oedipus directed by Vito Taufer with an exceptional cast (Milan Marić, Nataša Ninković, Miloš Samolov). The poster by New York-based artist Marko Ilić also attracted a lot of attention.

“Together with Schatz!, we created Oedipus in a tavern and I am happy that my music is part of this unique performance,” said Magnifico, who, in tandem with his brother Schatz!, will also provide music for the film and series Vera in November.

The songs that can be heard in the play Edip will soon be released on the album Kafana Ljubljana.
